The BBC have for years been seen as the 'guardians of English' and it is partly down to how they created a unique and specific accent we now call BBC English. For nearly all reports from the BBC in the 20th century, you will hear this accent. Very few newsreaders speak with this kind of accent these days - maybe one of the last is Sir David Attenborough.
